JOZEF SEDLÁK: PHOTOGRAPHIC ESCHATOLOGY

The exhibition is thematically focused on reflection of being, and deals with the issues of the last things of a man with the message: "vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas ..." Selected cycles from the field of fine-art and conceptual photography in a narrow thematic context correspond directly with the philosophy of the author's work to date. A photographer Jozef Sedlák, the representative of conceptual and process photography, is an author who in his work does not solve only formal questions of art, technological or experimental possibilities of photography, but through the medium of photography speaks about generally valid spiritual dimensions of man with the ambition to provoke him to seek the answers to the questions about the meaning of human being, death, the meaning of pain and suffering, the fate of man and the world, and touches on the problem of the absolute and the limits of human existence.

U-POINTS – TRANSIT: MAREK JAROTTA

The exhibition is part of the U-Points project. In the author's paintings, the main theme is public spaces in the context of urbanism and architecture ‒ transitional spaces connecting energy of movement in contrast to the unchanging existence of individual purpose-built elements of civic amenities. For the artist is the selected theme depiction a symbolic issue - he asks where we are coming from and where we are going. Jarotta is attracted to architecture that is beyond the public interest. The interiors of buildings from the middle of the last century, marked by functionalism and socialist aesthetics, look cool and alienated, they are the spaces that are here only to serve their purpose.

TELESKOP/ COLLECTION IN DIALOGUE

Authors: Tomáš Agat Blonski, Samuel Čarnoký, Jaroslav Čech, Marián Čižmárik, Slavomír Durkaj, Vlado Eliáš, Anna Fedáková, Eva Fišerová, Marián Hennel, Vladimír Popovič, Peter Roller, Peter Rónai, Rudolf Sikora, Jana Kiselová-Siteková, Peter Smik, Imrich Svitana, Simona Štulerová, Eva Tkáčiková, Edita Vološčuková, Peter Župník a iní.

The exhibition entitled UNIVERSE / COLLECTION IN DIALOGUE is a thematic selection of works depicting the atmosphere of a night and night sky focusing on individual universes of micro and macro "astro-logical" observations. The observation of the night sky through a telescope of various artistic realizations not only reflects astronomical and natural phenomena, but paradoxically becomes a magnifying glass that follows cultural and social events in a broader context. The diversity of the media, from painting, graphics, collage, photography, object and video, confirms the vastness of the collection systematically built since 1987. The exhibition presents a wide range of artists from the young to middle and older generations, including several works by no longer surviving authors. The exhibition is divided into several parts: Walk through the night landscape and the city, Night mourning, Solar Eclipse, Macro- and micro-space, that reflect the atmosphere of the night with a focus on observing the night sky through a telescope of various artistic realizations.

The international thematic exhibition of contemporary art deals with man as an integral part of the animal kingdom, namely from various points of view and in connection with cultural-historical development. The subtitle of the exhibition indicates the focus of attention on animals that are genetically-biologically closest to human or by their presence throughout history: monkey, dog and cat. The exhibition reflects the human being as an animal and refers to its human characteristics and properties, as well as the relationship itself of human to the animal.

ALAN HYŽA: SPIŠ MERITUS

The premiere of an exhibition by a prestigious Slovak photographer, known as an exceptional documentalist, focuses on the landscape and man - the silence and search for legacy of the past brings a new dimension to creation: we come to the “core” of Spiš. A person without a name symbolizes the current community of the region, from which already the author himself comes, selected portraits are related to universal human stories. The landscape is a meditative reflection on the unseen traces of the past – the selected locations are historic places of spiritual value, bearing traces of centuries and their hidden stories. The limited number of photographs has the character of vintages, the work with the classic camera format 8x10 (inches) also determines the traditional dimension of manually magnified black-and-white images: Hyža brings to his work a new dimension of the document in combination with fine-art vision and timeless content message.

DEGROWTH: ADAM MACKO & PETER CÁBOCKÝ

Výstava umelcov Petra Cábockého a Adama Macka skúma vzťahy medzi post-minimalistickou maľbou a myšlienkou ne-rastu, pomocou autorských stratégií dematerializácie, deskillingu zarytosti tvoriť maloformátové a neambiciózne maľby, či kritickej práce s režimami viditeľnosti.
