The ceramic works of Mária Banášová surprise with their composure and spontaneity; in unexpected compositions the idea meets imagination and humour. In the works of Peter Krupa Sr. we can find motifs that are based on religious themes or ideas inspired by classical music, in which he visualizes sound and tones. Traditional graphic techniques present contrasting works by two authors, Jana Kiselová-Siteková and Emil Sedlák. The depictions of lands, plants, animals and people in the works of Jana Kiselová-Siteková are full of fragile details. Emil Sedlák's imaginative works reflect the world of surreal transformations and dream visions. The mentioned works of both authors are represented in a significant number in the Gallery's collection. Peter Kocák's ex libris is formed by a solid line with fine elaborate hatching. The new book illustration is represented in a selection of works by Noemi Ráczová, Katarína Ilkovičová and Jana Kalixová. These flexible authors are able to offer craft-accurate, hand-painted graphic techniques, as well as modern digital painting, which they understand as a shape game.
The diversity of artistic realizations and the peculiarity of the author's expressions are also offered to the visitor with a paper notebook - a guide that, in addition to creative tasks, presents the profiles of the exhibited authors. The exhibition opens up space for reflection on the position of ceramics and book illustration in the context of the development of fine arts, as well as a possible reassessment of the Gallery's collection and its position vis-à-vis these media.
