AMALKA ĽUDMILA VALENČÍKOVÁ / SPACE IN(DENTITY)
The individual exhibition of the jubilee celebrating (40) Spiš artist Amalka Ľudmila Valenčíková is a visual benefit of her current creative program, in which she deals with gender issues, women's perception of motherhood and intimacy. The main theme is the materialization of ideas about the imaginary intimate space of a woman. The exhibition project of the Gallery of Spiš Artists is presented within the dramaturgical cycle Profiles. The exhibition was supported from public funds by the Slovak Arts Council.
The author creates her own, somewhat binding inner space of identity. She models a series of objects, sculptures, reliefs and interactive installations. This is a formatting of complete visual environs, where there is a special "feeling" of her intimate and imaginary space. In the minimalist position of her work, she tries to subjectively represent the inner space of the individual – a "different" world revealing the connections and differences between the male and female elements, between the spiritual and mundane world. To underline the fragility of sculptural shapes, she prefers soft sculptures and materials such as waste textiles, batting, foam, mesh, plastic, often with the involvement of some light moments. The ubiquitous white (tarpaulin, lace, wadding, plaster, cotton wool) symbolizes the quiet landscape of freshly snow-covered innocence, prenatal purity and the immaculateness of grandma's linen sheet. The area undertaken is reminiscent of individual stops of tribulation and trials on the path of life and art with a cut-off exclamation: "Have a pity on love".

The creative work of Amalka Ľudmila Valenčíková is characterized by an interesting sculptural expression with a connection to conceptual, action and minimalist art in various modifications. She approaches the selection of sculptural material sensitively, with a more intimate tone, seeks new possibilities, tests the shape laws of the materials used. She tends to organic shapes and lets the work live by the environment influence in which the objects are located. She monitors changes in structures and connects the natural element with the artificial one. She takes women's issues into account from numerous levels of perception. With its ovoid shapes, she refers to the parts of the female and male body where the reaction to the work of the sculptor Mária Bartuszová is manifested. The author's artistic scope is extensive; in addition to sculpture, it includes the art of video, installation, object, performance and scenography.
